Contacting the ISS with an amateur radio is possible

Yes, as surprising as it may be, it is possible to contact the International Space Station with a simple amateur radio.

Of course, you have to wait for the right moment, provided that an astronaut is available and when the station passes above your radio.
For that, there is a page on NASA's website that lets you locate the ISS.

In a YouTube video from late 2018, the frequency used was said to be 145.800, but I cannot certify that this is still the case.
