They isolated themselves for 27 years on a small handmade island

Publié le 30 Avril 2026

Information

Video published by Exploring Alternatives

In this 13-minute video, the couple Catherine and Wayne Adams show us an island they built themselves so they could live far from civilization by their own means.
They called it "Freedom Cove", or "Cove of Freedom", and it is located in Tofino, Canada.

At first, this island did not exist. Little by little, they added elements to it. To begin with, the island floated on logs that had to be replaced regularly, but since they recovered plastic floats, among other things, from a fisherman's liquidation sale, their island gained new potential for expansion.

Today, this floating property includes a greenhouse, a small lighthouse, a dance floor, living quarters, a lounge, a terrace, and more.

Thanks to solar panels, followed by a backup generator, they have enough electricity to meet their needs.
They use gravity to collect fresh water flowing from higher up.
Finally, wood allows them to heat the sections of the island they want.

Obviously, they recycle everything as much as possible, compost, and so on, so they do not generate waste. Fishing and their floating vegetable garden feed them all year round.

In short, it is a beautiful idea, but one that requires a lot of daily work. However, they do not advise others to do the same; according to them, it is not for everyone, and I personally agree.
Honestly, they are still missing the internet; I wonder how they survive without it lol
That said, as they say themselves in the video, civilization could collapse around them and they would no longer depend on it at all.

Time-lapse of minced meat

InformationVideo published by Temponaut Timelapse In this disgusting video, Temponaut lets a block of minced meat rot for 27 days. We see flies take over the meat to lay eggs and spread larvae in it. I am quite happy to only have the image without the smell, because I think it must smell seriously...
