Visit and explanation of rocket building at ULA by CEO Tory Bruno

Publié le 30 Avril 2026

Information

Tory Bruno

Video published by SmarterEveryDay

In this SmarterEveryDay video, Destin Sandlin introduces us to the CEO of "United Launch Alliance", who takes us on a short tour of his giant hangar where space rockets are built.

He presents the different construction stages, the transformation of materials (mostly aluminum), and the final assembly.

Tory Bruno also explains that he sometimes works in parallel with competitors, because space engineering has two major areas: "exploration and national security", and commercial work (communication satellites, etc.). ULA focuses on exploration and national security, so its main client is the government.
So sometimes he works with Blue Origin, for example, to share certain tasks according to each company’s specific strengths.
